Get used to the baby bottle

Getting a baby to the bottle can be a challenge, especially if the baby has so far only been breastfed. Here are some tips that can help you get your baby used to the bottle:

Wait the right time:

It is recommended to start feeding in the bottle when breastfeeding is already well established, usually around 4 to 6 months. Starting with bottle training too early can affect breastfeeding.

Let someone else feed:

Babies can recognize the smell of breast milk or have the desire for the mother. So let another confidant feed the baby. The baby may accept the baby bottle if it does not have the feeling that the mother is nearby.

Try different vacuum cleaners:

There are different types of vacuum cleaners with different shapes, materials and flow rates. Your baby can prefer a certain type of vacuum cleaner. Try different options to find out which one likes your baby best.

Offer bottle in various conditions:

Try to offer the bottle in different conditions when your baby is hungry. Try both when the baby is really hungry and if it is only slightly hungry to offer the bottle. Some babies are more likely to accept the bottle if they are not too hungry or too frustrated.

Try different temperatures:

Some babies prefer milk at a certain temperature. Try whether your baby likes the milk warm or at room temperature. In the best case, the bottle milk has the body temperature, i.e. 37 degrees Celsius.

Let the baby explore the vacuum cleaner:

Let the baby explore the vacuum cleaner with your lips and tongue without pressing out milk. This can help the baby familiarize themselves with the feeling of sucking on the bottle.

Be patient and sensitive:

Be patient and sensitive during bottle training. Some babies need more time than others to get used to the bottle. Do not push the baby and create a relaxed atmosphere.

Positive reinforcement:

Praise your baby and give him praise or rewards if it drinks successfully out of the bottle. Positive reinforcements can help your baby establish a positive connection with the bottle.

Continuously try:

If your baby does not accept the bottle on the first attempt, try again at a later date. Sometimes it can take time for the baby to get used to the new experience.

It is important to note that every baby is different and what works with a baby does not necessarily have to work with another. Be patient and flexible and adapt your approach to the needs and temperament of your baby.
